A note on my trip to Dublin.

Just back from my trip to Dublin for the INQUA Congress. This week was extremely rich in social events, meetings and amazing science. I feel exhausted but so happy I went there. Yet, my trip had a bit of a rocky start. Over 30 hours to do Geneva - Dublin; hard to believe but true. I almost missed my talk due to a cancelled flight, but I made it on time (cf. photo above).

I love INQUA congresses because it is one of the only opportunities that exist for the entire Quaternary scientists to all be present in one place. I have had the chance to see so many old friends this week, and to meet as many new ones.

I was also happy to see that the PAGES early-career network that I contributed to develop is now flourishing so nicely. The group is led by a group of amazing ECRs and their dedication to the network is creating such a nice working environment. So sad I had to quit it some months ago.

On a personal note, this trip was also the opportunity to officialise my new role as the elected-secretary of the Paleoclimate Commission (PALCOM) of INQUA. It is with great pleasure that I am starting this four-year adventure. It is such a nice opportunity to collaborate with the best Quaternary scientists. I am going to learn so much! This opens a new exciting chapter of my young career, and I hope I will fulfil the expectations.

I am now going underground for a couple of months now, as I have to submit research proposals in September and start looking for the next job.
